TRAUMA CARE PSYCHOLOGY

Compassionate, Trauma-Informed Support for 2SLGBTQI+ Individuals and Couples in Ontario

We provide a safe, inclusive space for 2SLGBTQI+ clients to explore their experiences without judgment. Our affirming, culturally sensitive approach supports those navigating identity, relationships, and belonging, including in environments where acceptance may be limited.

We offer both in-person therapy in Toronto and secure virtual sessions across Ontario.

Why Affirming Therapy with Cultural Sensitivity Matters

Affirming therapy combined with cultural sensitivity means:

• Your identity is respected and validated
• Your cultural and family background is acknowledged
• Therapy addresses both personal and systemic stressors
• You gain tools to navigate identity, relationships, and community challenges

We integrate evidence-based trauma treatments with culturally responsive care to support you in healing, growth, and self-acceptance.

Members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community often experience higher rates of trauma, discrimination, and minority stress, and these challenges can be amplified when cultural or family expectations are non-affirming.

How We Help?

At Trauma Care Psychology, we work with individuals and couples experiencing:

• Trauma and PTSD
• Anxiety and depression
• Minority stress and discrimination
• Identity exploration and self-acceptance
• Family rejection or conflict
• Relationship challenges and communication difficulties
• Intimacy and attachment concerns
• Life transitions and coming-out processes

Each therapy plan is tailored to your unique identity, culture, and experiences.

Many 2SLGBTQI+ individuals carry experiences of complex trauma, relational trauma, or chronic stress related to identity, culture, and safety. Our clinicians are trained in evidence-based trauma treatments, including DBT, CPT, ACT, EFT and others (learn more here).

Our approach combines:

• Affirming, inclusive care for 2SLGBTQI+ clients
• Culturally sensitive therapy for those from non-affirming environments
• Evidence-based trauma treatment
• Compassionate, non-judgmental support

These approaches help clients process trauma, reduce symptoms, help with self-acceptance, and rebuild a sense of safety and self-understanding, while acknowledging the role of culture and community in healing.

Couples Therapy for 2SLGBTQI+ Relationships

We provide couples therapy for 2SLGBTQI+ and non-monogamous partners navigating:

• Communication and conflict resolution
• Trust and emotional safety
• Identity or cultural differences within the relationship
• Intimacy, connection, and life transitions

Our therapists create a space where both partners feel respected, understood, and supported, while also addressing cultural factors that may impact the relationship.
