Registered Social Worker
Borana Demaj, MSW, RSWTrauma Therapist in Toronto & Ontario
I am a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist who supports individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, stress, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm through a compassionate and collaborative approach.
About Me
Therapy that feels safe, personal, and genuinely responsive to you.
I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) and Psychotherapist with experience supporting individuals facing trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional stress, life transitions, and complex personal challenges. My background includes working with clients affected by motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, trauma-related difficulties, and mental health concerns across community, rehabilitation, and psychotherapy settings. I provide therapy in English, Albanian, and Italian, and value creating a culturally sensitive and supportive therapeutic space.
My approach is client-centred, trauma-informed, and collaborative. I integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR-informed interventions, supportive psychotherapy, grounding strategies, and emotional regulation techniques. I believe therapy should feel safe, practical, and tailored to each individual's needs and pace.
I strive to help clients better understand themselves, strengthen coping skills, improve emotional well-being, and work toward meaningful and lasting change.
At Trauma Care Psychology, I offer sessions both in-person in Toronto and virtually across Ontario. I work within a collaborative clinical team with regular peer consultation, ensuring a high standard of care for every client.

Common Questions
Frequently asked questions.
- Does Borana offer therapy in languages other than English?
- Yes. Borana offers sessions in English, Albanian, and Italian. If you would prefer to work in Albanian or Italian, just let us know when you reach out.
- How do I get started working with Borana?
- The first step is a free 20-minute intro call. There is no commitment and no pressure. If the call feels like a good fit, you book a first intake session where Borana will learn more about your history, what you are working through, and what you are hoping for.
- What if Borana and I are not a good fit?
- That is a completely valid concern. If after the intro call or first session it does not feel right, our intake coordinator will help match you with another clinician at the practice. The goal is to find the right fit for you, not just a quick placement.
- How many sessions will I need?
- It depends on what you are working through, your history, and your goals. Some clients notice meaningful change in a few months; others working through complex or long-standing trauma benefit from longer-term support. After the first session or two, Borana will give you an honest sense of what to expect.
- Is Borana covered by my extended health benefits?
- Many employer benefit plans in Ontario cover Registered Social Workers. Trauma Care Psychology does not direct bill, but provides a receipt after every session that you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement. Check with your insurer or contact us if you are unsure whether RSW services are covered under your plan.
- Does Borana accept IFHP clients?
- Yes. Borana accepts clients covered under the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP), which funds mental health services for refugees, asylum seekers, and eligible newcomers to Canada. Contact us before booking to confirm your eligibility.
- Does Borana offer in-person and virtual sessions?
- Both. Borana sees clients in person at the Toronto office and virtually across Ontario. If you are outside of Toronto or prefer to meet online, virtual therapy is available and equally effective for most concerns.
