Registered Social Worker
Melissa Calle, MSW, RSWBilingual Trauma Therapist in Toronto & Ontario
I am a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with experience supporting survivors of intimate partner violence, childhood trauma, migration-related trauma, complex PTSD, and clients exposed to chronic or acute traumatic events.
About Me
Trauma-focused care, adapted to your culture, language, and history.
I work with people who have been through a lot, often for a long time, and are ready to explore what's been driving the pain, not just manage the symptoms. I draw on DBT, EFT, CPT, and ACT, adapting them to the individual, relationship, and cultural needs of the people I support.
I work collaboratively with clients to better understand and heal the underlying causes that may be driving current struggles, whether that's depression, anxiety, unmanageable stress, substance use, or relational conflict. Many of the people I support have navigated migration, displacement, intimate partner violence, or intergenerational harm, and I bring a strong cultural lens to how I work.
At Trauma Care Psychology, I offer sessions both in-person in Toronto and virtually across Ontario. I work within a collaborative clinical team with regular peer consultation, ensuring a high standard of care for every client.

Before You Reach Out
Is working with me right for you?
You don't have to be sure. Most people aren't when they first reach out.
You might connect if...
- You are struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use, or grief
- You are encountering issues in your relationships, find you are reactive and don't know why, feel stuck in patterns, or carry anger
- You have experienced life transitions, loss, childhood abuse, intimate partner violence, or a significant incident such as a motor vehicle collision
How I work
- I work from a trauma-informed and trauma-focused approach, exploring the underlying psychological injuries causing pain and conflict in your present day
- I modify and adjust the modalities I use to be specific to your experiences, needs, and cultural considerations
- I work at your pace and collaboratively with you
What the first session looks like
- I will ask questions about what brings you to therapy, what you are currently struggling with, your history, and where you hope to be
- Together we create a map with a general sense of where we are going and what we are working toward
- There is no pressure to have everything figured out — organizing your thoughts and goals is part of the work we will do together

Common Questions
Frequently asked questions.
- Does Melissa offer therapy in Spanish?
- Yes. Melissa provides therapy in both English and Spanish. If you would prefer to work in Spanish, let us know when you reach out and your sessions will be in the language you feel most comfortable in.
- How do I get started working with Melissa?
- The first step is a free 20-minute intro call. There is no commitment and no pressure. If the call feels like a good fit, you book a first intake session where Melissa will learn more about your history, what you are working through, and what you are hoping for.
- What if Melissa and I are not a good fit?
- That is a completely valid concern. If after the intro call or first session it does not feel right, our intake coordinator will help match you with another clinician at the practice. The goal is to find the right fit for you, not just a quick placement.
- How many sessions will I need?
- It depends on what you are working through, your history, and your goals. Some clients notice meaningful change in a few months; others working through complex or long-standing trauma benefit from longer-term support. After the first session or two, Melissa will give you an honest sense of what to expect.
- Is Melissa covered by my extended health benefits?
- Many employer benefit plans in Ontario cover Registered Social Workers. Trauma Care Psychology does not direct bill, but provides a receipt after every session that you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement. Check with your insurer or contact us if you are unsure whether RSW services are covered under your plan.
- Does Melissa accept IFHP clients?
- Yes. Melissa accepts clients covered under the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP), which funds mental health services for refugees, asylum seekers, and eligible newcomers to Canada. Contact us before booking to confirm your eligibility.
- Does Melissa offer in-person and virtual sessions?
- Both. Melissa sees clients in person at the Toronto office and virtually across Ontario. If you are outside of Toronto or prefer to meet online, virtual therapy is available and equally effective for most concerns.
